Labour evening with Attila The Stockbroker & John Forrester
Attila The Stockbroker
The Tom Thumb Theatre are delighted to announce that the poetry punk legend that is Attila the Stockbroker is coming to Margate!
Launched into the public consciousness by Radio One DJ John Peel in 1982/83, he has spent 35 years touring the world as a self sustaining DIY one man cottage industry, performing well over 3000 gigs in 24 countries and releasing 40 LP’s/EP’s/CD’s and 7 books of poetry.
In 2015 Attila published his autobiography “Arguments Yard” celebrating the 35 year anniversary of his first gig.
A regular at the Glasonbury Atilla has also hosted is own ‘Glastonwick’ festival for over 20 years, bringing a combination of live music, radical poets and comedy neatly combined with a real ale festival to West Sussex.
When not touring the land as a solo act Attila can be found fronting own his band Barnstormer, combining medieval instruments and music with punk rock to create a truly unique sound. Seek them out without delay.
Attila is a sharp tongued, high energy, social surrealist rebel poet and songwriter. His themes are topical, his word hard hitting, his politics unashamedly radical.
This is a performer not to be missed!
John Forrester sings songs of travel, adventure, lust, discovery, friendship, love & weather. A fine performer with an easy relaxed delivery, a warm openhearted voice, an unshowy guitar style and an infectious personality. Having toured Europe extensively his songs have a strong sense of location & motion.
Forrester arrives in Margate on the back of his new album ‘Restless’, released in February of this year.
As well as his own shows, he has opened for many artists including Show Of Hands, Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin, Nick Harper, Rory McLeod, TV Smith, Sonny Condell, Robb Johnson, John Kirkpatrick and Fate The Juggle.
Forrester weaves together folk-rock with an Americana feel to create a distinctive and immediate sound.
A top performer to kick off what is sure to be top night!
